Turgen Gorge is located in the eastern part of the Trans-Ili Alatau ridge, within the Ile-Alatau National Park of Kazakhstan. The Trekking camp area is an “island” naturally limited from all sides and inside a deep spruce forest, allowing visitors to enjoy wild nature and perform activities such as trekking, biking, rafting, bird watching and camping. The Tungen river acts as a natural limit and can only be crossed using a private suspension bridge.

Turgen Gorge Trekking camp is a top destination for its commitment in rising awareness on environment protection by encouraging all visitors to reduce their energy and water consumption, avoid solid waste (especially plastic) and respect the environment.

It is thus firmly committed to sustainability in all its aspects and also to the education and training of local people on sustainable tourism.

This destination participated in the 2019 Sustainable Top 100 Destination Awards at ITB Berlin by submitting a sustainable tourism story. Keywords: trekking club, campsite, ecotourism.
