Torres Vedras is a Portuguese municipality in the district of Lisbon and has 20 km of coastal area, rich historical heritage and diverse gastronomy. This municipality protects and promotes biodiversity and puts efforts in increasing soft mobility opportunities. Torres Vedras also sees importance in raising environmental awareness among its citizens for which they opened Environmental Education Center. This equipment aims to demonstrate the importance of reducing water consumption, improving water loss system, reusing the treated wastewater and using rainwater for irrigation. Their efforts were already recognized by European Green Leaf award.

Portugal participated in the 2019 Sustainable Top 100 Destination Awards at ITB Berlin by submitting a sustainable tourism story.
